This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference an incident that occurred on May 15th, 2023 at Bank of Springfield located at 2600 Adlai Stevenson Dr. The incident resulted in felony theft, identify theft, fraud and forgery. The suspect, who appeared to be a female with dark hair and a medium build, entered the branch pretending to be a customer. The suspect then used the identity, and a possible fake ID, of an existing customer to make a withdraw of $10,000. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference a shooting that occurred on May 18th, 2023 around 6:00 p.m. in the 2400 block of Taylor Ave. in Springfield, IL. The suspect was described as a male having a beard with gray in it, short hair, 6’0, 130-140 pounds, and wearing all dark clothing. The victim suffered an apparent gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The victim’s injuries are being considered non-life threatening at this time. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference a motor vehicle theft that occurred on May 11th, 2023 around 9:30 a.m. at Seven Brothers Grocery located at 1801 S 11th St. in Springfield, IL. The victim parked their car and entered the store. The suspect, who appeared to be a male wearing blue shoes, gray pants, a white shirt and a black hooded sweatshirt, proceeds to walk to the victim’s vehicle, get in and drive away westbound on Laurel. The vehicle was later recovered but the suspect has not been identified. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Chatham Police Department reference multiple catalytic convertor thefts that occurred between March 12th and April 27th resulting in $4,000 in thefts. 3 of the thefts occurred at Iron Gate Storage located on Mansion Rd. The other three incidents occurred in 100 block of S College, the 400 Block of E Chestnut and the 800 Block of N Park, all of which occurred in the driveway of the victims.
