On August 12 at the 1700 block of E Edwards, 29 year old Eric Robertson was shot by one of two unknown persons who approached the residence at approximately 1100 a.m. with handguns drawn. The motive for the shooting is not known however, several shots were fired leaving the victim mortally wounded. Crime Stoppers is offering a $5000 reward for information leading to an arrest in this homicide as we now do for all homicides in Sangamon and Menard Counties. This huge jump from a one thousand dollar maximum reward to a $5000 maximum was part of our effort to help end the senseless violence that occurs all too often.

This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department in identifying suspects reference to multiple thefts and criminal damages.  Over the past couple of weeks, at 3 different businesses in Springfield, an unknown person or person(s) have been breaking into propane cages and stealing propane tanks.  On one occasion surveillance video captured an individual on a red dirt bike with the number 5 or 6 rider sign on the handlebars.  That individual broke the lock to the cage and then shortly after a black SUV pulled up and picked up the tanks that were hidden on the property.  The total dollar amount in these thefts is in the thousands.  Images of the individual and bike can be found on this website, cashfortips.us. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department in identifying a suspect reference to a burglary, theft and criminal damage that happened on December 24th, 2024, and then again on December 25th,2024,  at E.L. Pruitt, 3050 Reilly Drive in Springfield.  On both occasions officers were called to the business for a burglary in progress.  When officers arrived the suspect was gone both times.  Stolen was over $4,000.00 worth of tools and copper piping.  Additionally, several thousand dollars in damage was also done to the property.  Video shows the suspect leaving on a bike with a trailer attached.  Images of the individual can be found on this website, cashfortips.us. This week, Crime Stoppers is seeking the communities’ assistance in locating Jeremy Register, who was reported missing in Springfield. The Springfield Police Department was notified by his family in October that they had not seen or heard from him since May. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department in reference to a burglary and criminal damage report. On November 13th and 17th ,in the early morning hours, police responded to White Oaks Mall, 2501 Wabash , in reference to several thousand dollars’ worth of damage being done to the inside of the building. Once inside, the suspects, who appear to be teenagers, damaged windows, fixtures, water pipes, and discharged fire extinguishers throughout the building. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department in reference to a robbery.  On November 7th around 11pm a male and female suspect entered Burger King, 3200 Northfield Dr in Springfield after the store was closed and employees were closing.  Once inside the two suspects demanded money from the employees and then fled on foot.  Both suspects had their faces covered at the time of the incident, however the female suspect had a very distinctive sweatshirt on.  Photos of the suspects can be found on this website, cashfortips.us. This week Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help in assisting the Illinois State Police with a homicide investigation. On September 9th, 2024, the Illinois State Police responded to a call in Normal, Illinois, where a body was discovered. The following day, the victim was identified as 34-year-old Dion Macklin from Springfield.  If you know or may have heard anything about his death, investigators need to know.

Crime Stoppers wants to help you protect your gifts, your home, and your peace of mind with some quick tips.  If you are ordering gifts online, be sure to track your packages, have it shipped to an alternate address or utilize a package lockbox.  While you are out shopping keep valuables out of sight and secure them in the trunk of your car.  When you arrive home make sure to remove all valuable items from your vehicle and secure them inside your home.  If you are traveling for the holidays, contact your local police department to ask about a vacation check on your home.  While you are away don’t let mail pile up, place a hold on your mail until you return.  Crime Stoppers hopes you have safe and enjoyable holiday season. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking to assist the Springfield Police Department to identify a suspect in reference to a burglary and theft that occurred on two different occasion’s on October 22nd and November 4th at Abelardos Mexican Restaurant located at 1610 W Jefferson, in Springfield.  Both times a male suspect is seen arriving in a white sedan in the early morning hours.  The male suspect, using bolt cutters, breaks into a detached freezer stealing over a thousand dollars’ worth of meat.  Photos of the individual(s) can be found on this website, cashfortips.us. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking to assist the Springfield Police Department to identify a suspicious individual(s) who were attempting to break into houses during the week of October 22nd in the 2300 block of Ramsey, in Springfield.  A male suspect or possibly two different males were seen on different occasions trying to enter a residence.
