This week Crime Stoppers is seeking to assist the Springfield Police Department to identify a suspicious individual(s) who were attempting to break into houses during the week of October 22nd in the 2300 block of Ramsey, in Springfield.  A male suspect or possibly two different males were seen on different occasions trying to enter a residence. On one occasion there was a male wearing a white sweat shirt and black pants and during another attempt there was a male wearing a red long-sleeved shirt or possibly sweatshirt and shorts.  Photos of the individual(s) can be found on this website, cashfortips.us. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference a burglary to motor vehicle, criminal damage and theft that occurred on November 7th, 2022 around 4:00 am at Goodwill located at 2531 N Dirksen in Springfield, IL. The suspect arrived in a white SUV and proceeded to break windows on two Goodwill vehicles causing $1200 in damage. The suspect then proceeded to take an assortment of tools from both vehicles worth approximately $6,000 before fleeing the area southbound. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference an aggravated battery, robbery and theft that occurred near 11th and South Grand in Springfield, IL on January 7th 2023 around 2:13 a.m. The victim was walking when they were approached by two young males on bicycles who were both wearing hooded sweatshirts. One of the males knocked the victim to the ground and both suspects began to search the victim’s pockets. The suspects took approximately $30 and fled the area southbound. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference a retail theft and aggravated battery that occurred on December 22th, 2022 around 6:15 p.m. at Ross Dress For Less located at 3137 S Veterans Pkwy in Springfield, IL. Three females entered the store, and proceeded to steal approximately $500 worth of merchandise. As the females were leaving the store, an employee tried to intervene and was then pepper sprayed by one of the females. The suspects then left in a light color 4 door sedan. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference a theft that occurred on December 12th, 2022 around 4:56 p.m. at CVS Pharmacy located at 1879 Sangamon Ave in Springfield, IL. The victim was entering the store when a male subject wearing white shoes, dark pants, dark jacket and a multi-color stocking cap took the victim’s purse and exited the store. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Fire Department Arson Investigators reference arsons that occurred at Washington Middle School and Matheny-Withrow Elementary in Springfield, IL during the early morning hours of December 8th, 2022. Video footage shows a male and female suspect lighting two fires outside of Washington Middle School including one near the gas main. The damage was estimated at approximately $3,000. Photos of the suspects can be viewed on this website, cashfortips.us. There are no photos available from Matheny-Withrow at this time and it is unclear if the incidents are related. The Springfield Police Department took a report from the 600 block of N 6th St. for 7 catalytic converters stolen, a report from the 2500 block of Prairie Crossing Dr. for 3 catalytic converters stolen and an additional report from the 2900 block of Rochester Road for 1 catalytic converter stolen. In total, these thefts were worth approximately $28,000. The suspects proceeded to take an array of items including firearms, $3800 in currency, shoes, clothes, electronics, identifying documents and other valuable items before leaving the residence. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference an aggravated battery that occurred at Pet Smart located at 3183 S Veterans Pkwy in Springfield, IL on November 1st, 2022 around 5:48 p.m. The suspect appeared to be a female, approximately 5’6 and 150lbs wearing dark clothing and a red head covering. The suspect was upset with how an employee was holding the leash on an animal which ultimately led to a dispute that would turn physical as the suspect slapped the employee victim with an open hand. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference an aggravated battery that occurred at Circle K located at 2461 W Monroe St. in Springfield, IL. The victim, a subject who was over the age of 60 and walked with a cane because of an injury, was battered by a subject described as a male in his 30s with a beard, wearing a black jacket, yellow hat, jeans and sunglasses. The suspect was possibly driving a white 4 door vehicle. Due to the victim’s age and health status, the battery is aggravated.
