Crime Stoppers Crime of the Week
 September 21, 2017

Officer Mike Badger, Crime Stoppers Coordinator for Sangamon and Menard counties.

Police are looking for two suspects involved in a forgery case in which an elderly victim’s caretaker, without authorization, wrote checks out of her personal account. Several Theft and Forgery warrants have been issued for the arrest of Springfield residents Joann Johnson and Tia Taylor, and police need your help in locating these suspects. I’ve posted photographs of the suspects on the Crime Stopper website Cashfortips.us in hopes that leads from the public will lead to their apprehension. Criminal incidents in which elderly or disabled people are victimized by those entrusted with their care are cruel crimes that must be stopped.

 September 14, 2017

Officer Mike Badger, Crime Stoppers Coordinator for Sangamon and Menard counties.

During the overnight hours of September 7th, three businesses in Springfield were burglarized and police believe there were at least two people involved in the burglaries. The doors of Darcy’s Pint, Capitol City Bar and Grill, and West Side Pub and Grill at Donnie B’s, one after the other, were forcibly entered. Once inside the perpetrators caused substantial damage to video gaming machines, automatic teller machines, and safes. They were able to escape with a substantial sum of money when the losses at all three burglaries were totaled.

Crime Stoppers Crime of the Week
 September 7, 2017

Officer Mike Badger, Crime Stoppers Coordinator for Sangamon and Menard counties.

The Springfield Police Department is investigating a burglary to the Burger King located on Veterans Parkway near White Oaks Mall which occurred during the overnight hours of August 23rd . Crime Stoppers is looking for tips to help solve this crime and close this case. The incident occurred between 1 and 2 am when a thin male made entry to the business and was able to defeat the safe and escape the business prior to the arrival of police. Although surveillance video did not provide police with a clear image that can be identified, investigators believe there is someone who can provide that identifying information or other details about the commercial burglary and theft.
