This week Crime Stoppers wants to remind you to be aware of scams. There has been an increase in multiple different versions of scams including amazon scams, romance scams, and recently a variety of scams where the victim is asked to download an app called Anydesk. Never allow anyone to remotely access your computer unless you are sure they are legitimate technical support. Since January 1st, 2023, the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office and Springfield Police Department have taken multiple reports resulting in financial scams collectively totaling over $900,000. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department in locating two subjects who are suspected of being involved in several forgeries throughout the area totaling over $7,000. The two subjects are Karree L. Banks (26 year old male) and Marquell C. Scott (25 year old male). Banks and Scott are believed to have been traveling in a rental vehicle. The vehicle is a black Dodge Durango with Georgia registration “TEK3921”. Photos of the suspects and their vehicle can be found on this website, cashfortips.us. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Rochester Police Department reference a residential burglary and felony theft that occurred on Circle Dr. on February 2nd, 2022 between 12:30 p.m. and 3:16 p.m. During the burglary an array of items were stolen including firearms, firearm magazines, ammunition and jewelry. The items were valued at over $1000. The suspect/suspects are believed to have been traveling in a black 2011 Kia Sorento with California registration “6RZM430”. Aggravated Battery and Mob Action

This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference an aggravated battery and mob action that occurred at the Sacred Heart Griffin Gym located at 1601 W Washington on January 7th, 2023 around 6:10 p.m. The victim was in the parking lot when they were approached by two male subjects with short hair wearing dark clothing and a female with shoulder length hair wearing dark clothing.   All three suspects proceeded to strike the victim with a closed fist multiple times in the head and face area before fleeing the area on foot.
