On a September evening last fall a home invasion occurred at a mobile home park on Oak Lane Road in Riverton. In the incident an adult male was watching tv when two subjects suddenly and unexpectantly entered his mobile home. One intruder was a black male who used a drill to batter the victim at the area of his head and face. A black female was also involved in the crime. The perpetrators left with two flat screen tv’s and a cell phone. The victim was hospitalized and has since recovered from his injuries.

The investigation by the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office established that 23 year old Keyanna L. Richards was the female who was involved in the incident and an arrest warrant for Home Invasion, Burglary, Theft and other charges was issued. Police are seeking the whereabouts of Richards and need your help. Crime stoppers will pay a cash reward if you have information which helps police locate Richards to affect an arrest. Fake Money Used in Social Media Web Sales

Crime Stoppers Crime of the Week
April 5, 2018

Officer Matt Goulet, for Crime Stoppers of Sangamon and Menard counties.

In the past Crime Stoppers has advised you about some of the dangers in transactions that originate on social media sites such as Facebook or Craig’s list. This week I want to focus on worthless money sellers have received in many of these transactions. At first glance the bills look like real U.S. currency however; on closer examination it’s evident that the money is not real. There are two main types of deceptive look-a-like money; One form is commonly referred to as Chinese money because it has pink Chinese symbols on the face and back of the US bills. Another fraudulent form is called movie money because it states on the front “Motion Picture Use Only”. The “motion picture use” phrase blends into the bill and deceives the unknowing victim. You can see examples of this worthless fake currency on the Crime Stoppers website Cashfortips.us.

If you have any information about persons involved in passing invalid money, give Crime Stoppers a call and you'll earn cash reward if your information leads to an arrest. Call the Crime Stopper tipline at 788-8427 or leave an anonymous tip on this website (Cashfortips.us).
