Crime Stoppers Crime of the Week April 14, 2016 Officer Mike Badger, Crime Stoppers Coordinator for Sangamon and Menard counties.       Crime Stoppers wants to alert the public that police are again receiving reports that there are persons claiming to be gutter or driveway repairmen who are actually criminals who are attempting to victimize area seniors. These individuals are not the helpful handymen they present themselves as;they are experienced con men who have stolen from the people they were pretending to help. Most of the suspects have work trucks and often they claim to be from local companies. The fact is- they are not from the area and they have stolen thousands of dollars in property from people. Most of the victims were distracted by the fake handyman while a second person snuck in the home and stole property. If you are approached by these thieves call 9-1-1. If you know their identity or have information about these crooks, call Crime Stoppers at 788-8427, we want them arrested. You can also leave information on our website cashfortips.us or text your tip to us, follow the instructions on the tab on our website. If your information leads to an arrest you could earn cash reward of up to $1000.
