This week Crime Stoppers is seeking to assist the Springfield Police Department to identify a suspicious individual(s) who were attempting to break into houses during the week of October 22nd in the 2300 block of Ramsey, in Springfield.  A male suspect or possibly two different males were seen on different occasions trying to enter a residence. On one occasion there was a male wearing a white sweat shirt and black pants and during another attempt there was a male wearing a red long-sleeved shirt or possibly sweatshirt and shorts.  Photos of the individual(s) can be found on this website, cashfortips.us. Upcoming Fundraisers

This week Crime Stoppers wants to make you aware of three upcoming fundraisers. Our first fundraiser will be taking place at The Office Bar and Grill on September 7th from 5-7pm for the first night of NFL football. Our second event will be the Rt. 66 Car show in downtown Springfield September 22-24 as we were selected as the charity of choice. The third fundraiser will be our 8th annual Rhythm & Brews on October 2nd at Hand of Fate Brewing Company in Petersburg. Crime Stoppers is a nonprofit organization and we rely on donations from our generous community so we can pay out rewards to the tipsters who help law enforcement solve crimes. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference a burglary that occurred at Capital Storage at 818 S Dirksen sometime between August 7th and 8th. The suspect, who appeared to be a male, arrived in a silver Ford SUV. The vehicle has a possible registration of “CV58296”. $350 in damage was done as the lock was broken on the unit. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference a residential burglary that occurred in the 1600 block of S 16th Street sometime between 5 and 6 a.m. on August 12th. The house was occupied by a resident at the time of the crime. The suspect, who appeared to be a male made entry into the residence after shattering a rear window causing $500 in damage. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference a burglary, vehicle theft and criminal damage that occurred on August 5th around 8:00 a.m. at Tossed and Found located at 1140 W Reynolds. The suspect, who appeared to be a male, jumped the fence of the business, entered a van on the property that had a trailer attached and proceeded to drive through the fence causing $4000 in damages. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference a retail theft that occurred on July 18th shortly after 11:00 a.m. at Marshall’s located at 2560 W Wabash. Three females entered the store and proceeded to conceal an array of items including clothing and cameras. The items were valued at over $260 and the females left the store without paying for them. The suspects were accompanied by three juvenile children, including one toddler, and used a baby carrier and blankets to help conceal some of the items. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information reference repeated illegal burns occurring on the property of both Oak Ridge and Calvary Cemeteries in Springfield. In the last year, the Springfield Fire Department has responded to fires in the area on 11 different occasions. Luckily, the fires were noticed quickly and no significant damage has occurred on the properties. While Arson is a felony offense, it is also important to remember open burning is also illegal in Springfield. Although it is not a felony, open burning of any item(s) is prohibited within the city limits. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Pawnee Police department reference a burglary that occurred between January 18th and 19th, 2023 at The Shed located at 210 E Carol in Pawnee. At the time, The Shed was under construction and between the hours of 8:30 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. the burglary occurred resulting in the theft of $35,000 worth of property including tools, cigarettes, alcohol and other items. A camera shows a dark color vehicle with a sticker on the rear window in the area however it is unclear if/how the vehicle is related. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference a large disturbance that occurred on July 8th at the State House Inn located at 101 E Adams St. Upon arrival, Officers located a large crowd fighting in the middle of the road. It was later determined that multiple crimes occurred which resulted in multiple injuries including a victim being stabbed and other victims being battered. The victims were treated for their injuries at local hospitals. No suspect(s) have been identified and Crime Stoppers needs your help. There are currently no photographs available. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office reference a burglary that occurred between June 29th and 30th at Ambers Place located at 2900 S Lowell. The unknown suspect(s) forced entry into the business through a door. Once inside, multiple items were stolen including alcohol and cash from the gaming machines, ATM and jukebox with the losses totaling over $2400. While committing the thefts, criminal damages to the business and machines totaling over $1500 also occurred. Photos of the suspect(s) are not available at this time. Come join us at the Levitt Amp Springfield Music Series taking place on the Y-block on July 6th with music starting at 6:30 from Chris Camp & His Blues Ambassadors followed by James Armstrong to close the evening. We will have a variety of handouts including pocket size insect spray repellent and collapsible Frisbees and coloring books for the kids.
