Crime Stoppers Crime of the Week October 8, 2015   Officer Mike Badger, Crime Stoppers Coordinator for Sangamon and Menard Counties. This week Crime Stoppers needs your assistance in helping to solve a burglary to a residence in the 800 block of S MacArthur Blvd which took place near midnight on September 28th. In this residential burglary, witnesses observed 2 black males running out of the back of a home carrying shotguns which were later determined to have been stolen from the residence which was burglarized. The suspects were approximately 5’ 10” tall, one wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and the other was red hoodie. ID technicians were able to collect evidence from the scene, but help is needed to close the case. Do you have any information which might help put these thieves behind bars? This week Crime Stoppers is seeking to assist the Springfield Police Department to identify an individual reference counterfeit money. On September 10th Officers responded to Nancy’s Pizza, 2301 W Monroe, in reference to an individual using a fake $50 bill.  The suspect was described as a black male wearing a grey shirt, black pants and a dew rag.  The suspect placed an order and used counterfeit money to pay.  It was discovered at that time by officers that the suspect had done the exact same thing to 3 other business in that location within the same time frame. Stolen Credit Cards

This week Crime Stoppers is seeking to assist the Rochester Police Department to identify an individual reference stolen credit cards.  On August 22nd and then again on September 5th several vehicles were broken into at Rochester Community Park where purses and wallets were taken.  Then in the early evening on Sept. 5th , a white male wearing black sweat pants and a t-shirt attempted to use two of the stolen credit cards at Best Buy (3193 S Veterans Parkway).  Images of the individual can be found on this website, cashfortips.us. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department in reference to a Criminal Damage investigation.  Between August 30th and 31st in the overnight hours, an unknown person(s) cut down over 50 trees in a boulevard along the 1700 block of East Lake Shore Dr.  The trees, which were around 6 years old and of various types, sustained damage amounting to over $10,000.00.   Crime Stoppers needs your help in solving this case. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department in reference to a Deceptive Practices and Forgery case.  On June 27th a white male approximately 30-40 years old entered The Gold Center (3001 W White Oaks Dr) with a cashier’s check in the amount of $45,000.00.  The suspect used the check to purchase several gold pieces.  At the time of transaction, the check was confirmed to be authentic.  Two days later it was discovered the check was fraudulent.  Photos of the suspect and the vehicle he was driving can be found on this website, cashfortips.us. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department in reference to an aggravated battery.  On June 29th around 2:30 am officers were called to the area of 5th and Cedar for a large fight. The victim told officers she was giving a ride to two individuals for ridesharing.  When the she approached the intersection there were several people in the roadway not moving.  After the driver honked to get them to move, several white males and a female started kicking and hitting the vehicle causing over $1,000.00 in damage.  When the driver got out to confront the subjects they began punching her in the face.  Two males were wearing jeans with no shirts and the female was wearing a red spaghetti strap shirt.  Photos of the suspects can be found on this website, cashfortips.us. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference a burglary.  On July 27th officers were called to Mansa Mini Storage, 2171 S 9th St. in reference to a burglary to a storage unit.  During the burglary 35 firearms were taken including AK-47’s, handguns, shotguns and approximately 10,000 rounds of ammunition. Two days later when detectives were conducting follow up in the area, a suspicious white male in his late 20’s, early 30’s, with shaggy brown hair fled on foot upon seeing police.  In the area where the subject was observed, detectives located several boxes of the stolen ammunition.  If photos become available, they will be posted on this website, cashfortips.us. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Sherman Police Department in reference to a vehicle theft.  On July 1st a Red 2014 Ford F550 (License Plate M197084) with a Knapheide flatbed was stolen from the Village of Sherman public works facility.  In addition to the truck, an attached 20 ft Doolittle trailer carrying a Toro Z Master and Exmark Lazer Zero Turn lawn mowers were taken. Photos of the truck can be found on this website, cashfortips.us. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking to assist the Springfield Police Department to identify two individuals reference stolen credit cards. On May 4th the victim reported that his wallet which contained various debit cards and cash had been lost while fishing near Bridgeview Beach House at Lake Springfield.  Four days later on May 8th a white male and female used his stolen LINK card at Save A Lot, 2520 E Clear Lake, to make purchases.  Another unauthorized use of a debit card was attempted in Decatur as well.  Images of the individuals can be found on this website, cashfortips.us. Burglary

This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference a burglary and theft that occurred on June 5th around 1am at Lanphier High School located at 1300 N 11th.   School security cameras captured a white male with short dark hair wearing a red jacket approaching the school around 1am and leaving approximately 45 minutes later.  Once inside the suspect rummaged through multiple rooms going through desks and cabinets before taking a 65in flat screen TV.   Photos of the suspect can be found on this website, cashfortips.us.
