This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department in reference to a burglary and criminal damage report. On November 13th and 17th ,in the early morning hours, police responded to White Oaks Mall, 2501 Wabash , in reference to several thousand dollars’ worth of damage being done to the inside of the building. Once inside, the suspects, who appear to be teenagers, damaged windows, fixtures, water pipes, and discharged fire extinguishers throughout the building. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information reference repeated illegal burns occurring on the property of both Oak Ridge and Calvary Cemeteries in Springfield. In the last year, the Springfield Fire Department has responded to fires in the area on 11 different occasions. Luckily, the fires were noticed quickly and no significant damage has occurred on the properties. While Arson is a felony offense, it is also important to remember open burning is also illegal in Springfield. Although it is not a felony, open burning of any item(s) is prohibited within the city limits. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Pawnee Police department reference a burglary that occurred between January 18th and 19th, 2023 at The Shed located at 210 E Carol in Pawnee. At the time, The Shed was under construction and between the hours of 8:30 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. the burglary occurred resulting in the theft of $35,000 worth of property including tools, cigarettes, alcohol and other items. A camera shows a dark color vehicle with a sticker on the rear window in the area however it is unclear if/how the vehicle is related. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference a large disturbance that occurred on July 8th at the State House Inn located at 101 E Adams St. Upon arrival, Officers located a large crowd fighting in the middle of the road. It was later determined that multiple crimes occurred which resulted in multiple injuries including a victim being stabbed and other victims being battered. The victims were treated for their injuries at local hospitals. No suspect(s) have been identified and Crime Stoppers needs your help. There are currently no photographs available. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office reference a burglary that occurred between June 29th and 30th at Ambers Place located at 2900 S Lowell. The unknown suspect(s) forced entry into the business through a door. Once inside, multiple items were stolen including alcohol and cash from the gaming machines, ATM and jukebox with the losses totaling over $2400. While committing the thefts, criminal damages to the business and machines totaling over $1500 also occurred. Photos of the suspect(s) are not available at this time. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference a residential burglary that occurred in the 2000 block of E Brown St. in Springfield, IL on May 7th around 4:25 p.m. The suspects, who were thought to be juvenile males, made entry into the residence through a window. Once inside, the suspects took 4 firearms, a laptop, multiple watches and as assortment of ammunition of various calibers. In total, the items stolen were valued at over $7,000. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference an armed robbery that occurred at the Red Roof Inn located at 3200 Singer Ave. on June 5th around 9:30 p.m. A subject, who was thought to be shorter in stature wearing what appeared to be a white mask, dark color pants and a gray sweatshirt that appeared to have the logo and lettering of Brigham Young University, entered the hotel lobby. The suspect then held multiple subjects at gun point and proceeded to take approximately $1500 in cash before leaving northbound on foot. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference a case involving identity theft and fraud. The suspect, who appeared to be a male, thin build and had dark thinning hair, used the identity of another person to obtain a Scheels’ credit card. After obtaining the credit card, the suspect proceeded to make multiple purchases at various locations in the area totaling over $13,000. The suspect also rented a vehicle, which was not returned but later recovered and was denied financing on a tractor worth over $5000. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference an incident that occurred on May 15th, 2023 at Bank of Springfield located at 2600 Adlai Stevenson Dr. The incident resulted in felony theft, identify theft, fraud and forgery. The suspect, who appeared to be a female with dark hair and a medium build, entered the branch pretending to be a customer. The suspect then used the identity, and a possible fake ID, of an existing customer to make a withdraw of $10,000. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference a shooting that occurred on May 18th, 2023 around 6:00 p.m. in the 2400 block of Taylor Ave. in Springfield, IL. The suspect was described as a male having a beard with gray in it, short hair, 6’0, 130-140 pounds, and wearing all dark clothing. The victim suffered an apparent gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The victim’s injuries are being considered non-life threatening at this time.
