This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department in reference to a burglary and criminal damage report. On November 13th and 17th ,in the early morning hours, police responded to White Oaks Mall, 2501 Wabash , in reference to several thousand dollars’ worth of damage being done to the inside of the building. Once inside, the suspects, who appear to be teenagers, damaged windows, fixtures, water pipes, and discharged fire extinguishers throughout the building. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference a hit and run that occurred on November 15th just after 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of 11th and North Grand. The suspect vehicle, which appeared to be a dark color Mazda Sedan, turned in front of a motorcycle causing the driver to be ejected from the bike and suffer multiple non-life-threatening injuries including broken bones. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference a fire that occurred at the NAACP located at 811 S 11th street. Between the hours of 1230 and 1245 am on November 28th, a suspect, who appeared to be a male wearing a jacket and khaki pants, can be seen on the property. The suspect was seen going behind the building and starting a fire inside the dumpster. The suspect then stared at the fire before leaving the area northbound on foot. If you are ordering gifts online, track your packages, have it shipped to an alternate address or utilize a delivery locker to help prevent the theft of packages. If you are traveling, contact your local police department to inquire about vacation checks and request a vacation hold on any shipments you are expecting. Finally keep valuables out of sight. Take any purchases out of your vehicle, lock your car doors, place valuables out of sight in your residence, and of course enjoy the Holiday season! It’s coming up on the end of the year which means trivia season is upon us! Crime Stoppers annual Trivia Night is being held on Saturday January 27th, 2024 at the BOS Center. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference two armed robberies that occurred on October 19th between 9 and 11:10p.m. resulting in the loss of over $1400. One robbery occurred at Walgreens at 2305 W Monroe while the other occurred at Famous Liquors at 1540 W Wabash. Famous liquors was robbed by two male suspects while Walgreens was robbed by one male suspect. In both incidents, employees were threatened with a firearm and forced to concede store money. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office reference an incident that occurred at Qik N EZ at 2800 Peoria RD on October 13th just after 1 p.m. During the incident, felony criminal damage and mob action occurred. Four suspects entered the store and began to destroy merchandise and threatened to shoot up the store. As the suspects were leaving, the female suspect threw a firewood bundle through the windshield of a vehicle on the property. The incident resulted in over $700 in damage. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Rochester Police Department reference multiple vehicle burglaries that occurred in the Maplehurst and Woodland Trail subdivisions. These burglaries occurred on September 19th between 2 and 3 am and resulted in approximately $1,000 in cash as well as electronics being stolen. There were two vehicles, appearing to be dark in color, seen leaving the area at a high rate of speed at the time of the burglaries however it is not clear at this time if they are the suspect vehicles. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office reference a burglary to motor vehicle that occurred at Selvaggio Steel on October 16th around 3:40 a.m. The suspect vehicle, which appears to be a Mercury Grand Marquis entered off of Lincoln Avenue. Once on the property, the suspect, who appeared to be a tall slender male, proceeded to steal approximately $700 worth of cordless Milwaukee tools and batteries from a work truck. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference an armed robbery that occurred at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on October 8th around 3:30 a.m. The male suspect, described as 5’8, muscular build, bearded and wearing a white sweatshirt, brown camo pants and a mask, inquired about a room but then pulled a firearm. The suspect tied up an employee, hit them with the firearm causing a laceration and went through an array of office space taking approximately $32. This week Crime Stoppers wants to make you aware of our next event! Weebles will be hosting the 7th annual Shrimp Boil for Crime Stoppers on Sunday, October 22nd from 1pm-5pm. Shrimp Boil plates are $15 and there will be live music by the Silhouette Band. This will be our last fundraiser of the year and we hope to see you there!
